At the invitation of i3 Membrane GmbH, leading hygiene experts met in Frankfurt a.M. on
April 1, 2016 on the occasion of the 1st Frankfurt Discussions.

i3 Membrane extended invitations for the first time in order to discuss current challenges in the hygiene sector. Three specialist lectures formed the basis for intensive technical exchanges.

In his talk entitled "Infection reservoir for gram-negative pathogens – On their new significance in water and waste water hygiene", Prof. Dr. med. Martin Exner used outbreak casuistry to justify the necessity of comprehensive hygienic consideration of the water supply and disposal systems.

With his presentation entitled "Presence of potentially pathogen bacteria in the aquatic environment", Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Kohnen drew attention to systematic environmental hygiene examination of the propagation of species of enterococci (VRE) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa of various degrees of resistance using gene sequencing.

In a third talk entitled "Atypical mycobacteria in cardiothoracic surgery – Seeking signs", PD Dr. med. Frank-A. Pitten presented a current case in which patients got critical infections with atypical mycobacteria following cardiac surgery.
